In memory of Stas Krivosheev 1989-2006

Stas was a noted scholar , athlete and musician. He was the principle cellist in the philharmonic orchestra at Peachtree Ridge High School where my wife is one of the orchestra teachers. Stas died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 as a result of an automobile accident. My wife Victoria and I deeply mourn his passing and extend our thoughts and prayers his parents Tatiana and Oleg.
"Tension builds, poised, greatest the instant before the strike. My bow attacks the string in extreme catharsis, releasing sound, emotion. The glide of Saint-Saens's famous swan, the dissonant passion of Beethoven's Egmont, melodies intertwining, reflecting humanity, their creators, myself. I can almost see the lake, the white beauty heralding divine afflatus, can almost in empathetic epiphany feel the unbearable agony, the cosmic, inscrutable injustice of the greatest gift of Beethoven's that the world first gave him, then took away. I try to do them justice, to relate my understanding of their tale, a whisper of humanity's greatest triumphs and despairs, resonating through centuries, through me, the vessel of their irresistible, revealing cry."
