A native of Great Falls, Montana, Luther Enloe began his musical studies on the trumpet at the age of seven. At the age of 19 he moved to Athens, Georgia, to study the guitar at the University of Georgia with John Sutherland. He has subsequently received a BM and an MM, graduating with distinction, under Mr. Sutherland’s tutelage. As a response to his outstanding academic achievement, Enloe was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society. Continuing his studies at UGA, he is presently pursuing a DMA in music performance with a minor in musicology. Further guitar studies include classes with Christopher Parkening, Jason Vieaux, John Duarte, Simone Fontanelli, and Patrick Kearny. Additionally, he has studied chamber music with Milton Masciadri. As a soloist, Luther Enloe has distinguished himself by winning awards in the Georgia Music Educators Association Competitions including the Award of Excellence in 1996 and 1998. Additionally, Mr. Enloe was a chosen recitalist at the 1998 Christopher Parkening master class at Montana State University. Concurrent with his academic studies, Enloe maintains an active performance schedule and has appeared as a guitar soloist with many ensembles including The Montana State University Chorale, The Dekalb Choral Guild, and Peachtree Symphonic Winds. Luther Enloe has served on the faculty of Berry College in Rome, Georgia since 2007. At Berry he maintains a thriving guitar studio in addition to teaching courses in music. He and his wife Victoria live in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
I am currently perusing a Doctor of Musical Arts in performance with a minor in musicology at the University of Georgia. I’m perusing this degree concurrent with a full teaching load at Berry College in Rome Georgia. That being said, it has been hard for me to stay on top of updating this website, youtube, myspace, and facebook.
Recently, I participated on a faculty recital at Berry College on March 9, 2009. My colleagues and I presented recital of French music focusing on a newly restored piano upon which Claude Debussy once performed a recital.
Additionally, on March 19, 2009 I presented a paper at the 2009 Student Music Research Symposium at the University of Georgia. The paper that I presented is entitled:
Alchemy in an Etude: Coalescing Afro-Cuban Rhythms, Classical Form, and Romantic Dissonance in Leo Brouwer’s Estudio V
On April 1, 2009 at 3:35 p.m. I will be presenting a doctoral chamber recital in Ramsey Concert Hall on the campus of the University of Georgia.
